Long-term Care
Long-term care homes support people living with frailty due to aging, chronic illness, or more complex health needs that require care around the clock. While many residents live in long-term care permanently, others come for shorter stays—whether it’s recovering after illness or injury, or for caregiver respite. The average length of stay in long-term care is 12 to 24 months.
Our home provides 24/7 care in a structured environment for individuals and couples over the age of 19. Our team is trained to meet a wide range of care needs—with flexibility as things change.
Long-term care is often the right fit when someone:
Needs help with most or all daily routines—like bathing, dressing, or mobility
Is living with memory loss or behaviours that require structure and supervision
Experiences frequent falls, infections, or hospital visits
Lives alone and is becoming isolated or at risk
Has caregivers who are exhausted or overwhelmed
Is in the later stages of illness or frailty, when comfort and dignity matter most
Support includes:
Medication and symptom management
Personal care, including hygiene and washroom use
Help with mobility and transferring
Nutritional and mealtime support
Housekeeping and laundry
Advance care planning and end-of-life care
Residents live in small, private rooms—ideal for those who tire easily or are at higher risk of falls. For those living with dementia or memory loss, a simpler space can feel more manageable. For others, especially those used to more space or independence, the transition can take time—and we’re here to support that adjustment.
Long-term care is also a shared, group living environment—home to people at different stages of aging and illness. We work to create a welcoming, respectful space with meaningful engagement, spiritual support, and programs that reflect each person’s needs, preferences, and strengths.
Our interdisciplinary team includes residents and families, nurses, care aides, physicians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, dietitians, engagement staff, and support services. Together, we focus on what matters most: your comfort, your choices, and your quality of life.

Costs
In long-term care, there is a provincial mandate for the hours of care that are required for each person in care, which directly dictates funding. That provincial amount is 3.36 hours per person in care. At Evergreen, we staff for more than 4 hours per person in care – well above the provincial amount required.
The daily rate for Evergreen’s long-term care beds is $320.93, whether publicly or privately funded.
Publicly funded long-term care beds are a shared cost between the resident and the Ministry of Health. Private pay services are the responsibility of the individual or a third-party payer, if involved, such as Veteran’s Affairs Canada, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, or Extended Health Care such as Blue Cross, Green Shield, etc.

“The atmosphere at Evergreen Seniors home is warm and welcoming. The first time I walked in I remarked on how happy team members appeared and how everyone smiles at each other. This reflects the philosophy of Evergreen Seniors home – a warm and inclusive place to be. Care provided to residents reflects the concept of client focused care, and in my opinion is an example of respect. Routines and activities exist in this facility of course, however not to the point where the unique needs of the resident must be adjusted. In fact, routines are molded around the resident’s needs. Finally, the care that I observe regarding resident needs in this facility is that of best practice..”
