Hospice Palliative Care
Evergreen provides privately funded hospice palliative care through a partnership between Evergreen and the Campbell River Hospice Society.
To access Campbell River Hospice Society, the following criteria must be met: The resident is 19 years of age or older, is enrolled in the BC Palliative Care Benefits Program, and has been diagnosed with an end-stage illness with a life expectancy of three months or less.
The Care
Hospice Palliative care focuses on the care, comfort, and quality of life of a person, and their family, with a serious illness who is approaching the end-of-life. Hospice Palliative Care is available for respite, symptom management such as pain or nausea, transitional care from hospital to home, or a permanent stay through to end-of-life. We also offer counselling, pet therapy, music therapy, and other relaxation therapies such as reflexology and reiki. Moving into Hospice can be a difficult decision, however the care and support provided can make an enormous difference in the quality of life for the person and their family.
Physical Space
Hospice Palliative Care is provided in our one-bedroom self contained suites. The space includes a fully outfitted kitchen, in-suite laundry, accessible bathroom with a wheelchair accessible shower, a secondary sleeping nook, and a hide-a-bed couch in the living room. Each suite has a small patio and direct access to the outdoors. Hospice has a separate entrance allowing families and visitors convenience to come and go 24/7. Pets are welcome with approval.
Costs
Hospice Palliative Care costs at Evergreen vary between $295.00-$400.00 per person, per day, depending on the care needs.

“Mum/Gram was one very lucky lady - she was at the Evergreen! Over the past two years you have shown why your fantastic reputation is so well known… Being able to stay in the Hospice suite with Mum/Gram is something we each treasure and has made her passing a bit easier.
Whether it was lending an ear, bringing us dinner, words of reassurance or a kind smile. You were there for us too.”
— Many thanks to all of you. Kyra, Mikayla and Kristanna
