Health Care Assistants
The ideal candidate:
Compassionate, trustworthy, reliable, flexible, thoughtful, and curious.
A high standard for care.
A model not to be compared: We were asked in an interview “I heard that if someone wants a bath in the afternoon here, you give it?” – the answer is YES, of course.
If someone wants a fried egg sandwich at 3am, we do that too. And if someone wants to sleep in, they do that also without fear of missing the breakfast hour.
Use of our time: We maximize our time so that it’s shared with residents to the greatest extent possible. This concept can be challenging for some care providers used to environments where they can scroll on personal phones, or watch movies on night shifts.
Communication and care planning: It is vital that HCA’s participate in communication and care planning to ensure a continuity in quality care.
Compensation: Starting wage of $29.83.
Overtime: Evergreen’s staffing model does not rely on overtime. Minimal to nil overtime is available.
Person-centered scheduling: Some people work rotating shifts, some work set days, some prefer 8-hour shifts, other prefer 12-hour. As long as the agreement is fair both ways, we are flexible and accommodating to the greatest extent possible.
There are a variety of shifts available. 4 or 12-hour shifts are scheduled only for those requesting them. Otherwise, the standard is 8-hour shifts.
Second job: No problem.

Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.
