We are looking for someone special to join our culinary team, cooking breakfast, as well as crafting snack packs and meal baskets for our seniors at Evergreen and in the community.

No formal experience is required—just your passion for food and attention to detail!

What you'll do:

  • Cook a variety of breakfast items each morning for our residents at Evergreen.

  • Prepare and assemble visually appealing and nutritious snack packs and baskets.

  • Collaborate with our culinary team to design creative and tasty snack options.

  • Ensure each snack meets the nutritional needs of our seniors, both in our home and the wider community.

We provide in-house training for this position.

The right fit will be creative, compassionate, trustworthy, reliable, flexible, and thoughtful.

This is a healthcare position, therefore candidates must be available for shifts 7 days a week, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Wage: $24.00-$27.00

 

Entrée Cook

Are you a creative home cook who loves hosting dinners and preparing delicious meals with quality ingredients?

Join our team!

Evergreen Seniors Home is looking for an enthusiastic Entrée Cook to join our team and create personalized dining experiences for our residents.

No formal experience is required— we value a love for great food and a personal touch.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare creative and individualized meals based on resident feedback and preferences.

  • Use high-quality ingredients to create delicious, home-cooked dishes.

  • Engage with residents to understand their tastes and dietary needs.

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.

  • Collaborate with the Evergreen team to enhance the dining experience.

We provide in-house training for this position.

Cook Plus

The ideal candidate:

Creative, compassionate, trustworthy, reliable, flexible, thoughtful.

No formal cooking experience is necessary. More importantly is a passion for quality meals, ingredients and experiences.

Wage rate: $24.34 to start or TBD based on experience.

Schedule: 0530-1330h; 1100-1900h; 0600-1400h; 1000-1800h

Job summary:

  • Dishes and cleaning.

  • Individualizing experiences and choosing what is right over what is “easy”

  • Taking pride in the home, it’s operations, its things and stuff and its people

  • Operation and care of equipment, attention to efficiency

  • Strong attention to cleanliness and Infection Control practices

  • Working on the dietary team to create and prepare meals, snacks and experiences for the residents, their families, the team and our community

  • Teacher, Communicator, Team Leader: Taking the time to communicate daily with the team on the floor, sharing information about what you have to offer from the dietary side of things. Teaching the team how to create an experience with the offerings. Collecting feedback and ideas to implement.

  • Getting to know the diverse population at Evergreen. We all have unique preferences, likes and dislikes; the team gets to know what the residents want to eat and use flexibility and creativity to make it happen. One size does not fit all.

  • Meal service – plating, left over cart, dessert cart, condiments, dishes and clean up. Fresh vegetable variety, ability to cook to order under pressure, not just steam table service.

  • Home made stocks, gravy, pastries, appies, snacks – as close to the original ingredient as possible, avoid pre packaged and pre prepped items.

  • Menu planning and development: Vegetarian, Vegan, Celiac, Low Potassium, Cardiovascular, Low sugar, cut up, minced, puree, whole, soft vegetable, steamed vegetable, fresh, frozen.

  • Menu planning: Seasonal, local, use of left overs, alternatives, bite sized, snack packs, smoothies, as close to zero waste as possible – including plate wastage.

  • More specific: Homemade bread, cinnamon buns, muffins, cookies, squares, pies, cakes, scones, biscuits, fresh sandwiches, fresh buns, homemade stocks and soups, homemade breakfasts, nice lunch options, dinner entrees, homemade fries, fish and chips.

  • In addition to day to day: Preparing for birthdays, anniversaries, special holidays, picnics, fundraisers. BBQ’ing, Smoking, Growing, Learning, Teaching.
